Speed Metal is still a genre I like, but there are not a lot of
bands that play pure speed anymore. Many bands play a mix of thrash and
melodic speed and in general, we put the label thrash on these bands, especially
when they have an aggressive vocalist in the line-up. This band hailing from
Denmark has a lot of early speed metal influences, but they also mix that with
some early thrash:
Elements of NWOBHM, speed and thrash mixed together with high
screaming vocals of N. Hydra.
S.
Klem and S. Rose are responsible for the unstoppable guitar attacks and riffs
throughout every song. The entire atmosphere and sound on the album takes me
back to the early eighties. Imagine a mix of Deathrow, Artillery and Savage
Grace, add some NWOBHM influences and some doom passages to it and this all
recorded in a studio with a Mercyful Fate album playing in the background. I
could tell you details about every song, but a lot of comments would be the same;
a high speed mix of Deathrow/Iron Maiden with screaming vocals and thrash
elements played as fanatic as if the devil breathed
in your neck. If I had
to put a label on the music, I would say that this is closer leaning towards speed
metal than towards thrash. The band or perhaps the label calls it nocturnal
speed metal.
This is for
you if you like Enforcer, Deathrow and eighties speed metal in general.
