Old
school American crossover thrash, not from the U.S. of A, but from Sweden.
The masked members with names like Dr. Toxic, Dr. Rad, Dr. Mania and Dr. Slam
have been picked up by Century Media and that says something. Not only their live
performances are famous, but this new album is one that will be liked by many
also. Their music is a feast for those of you that like music of Suicidal
Tendencies, Anthrax and Nuclear Assault, S.O.D. and D.R.I. Also if you are more
into younger bands like Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust, you will be pleased.
Combining thrash riffs reminding of Anthrax and Overkill with the hardcore/punk
elements of D.R.I. with a Suicidal Tendencies attitude. That is what this is all
about.
With masks, bandanas, baseball shirts and humorous lyrics in a kind of Billy
Milano way the band completes it. The vocals of Dr. Mania have a lot in common
with Suicidal Tendencies shouter Cyco Miko, but in the first song "Crush the
Sublime Gods", he uses an Anthrax kind of singing style. "TEAMxDEADx" is a very
fast song where S.O.D. meets Nuclear Assault and I'm sure there will be a giant
mosh pit during the slower part of the song. That it is not only fast and
furious on this album can be heard in "Eternall Darkness of the Fucked Up Mind",
with a nice gangshouting refrain.
Perhaps their image is a little too much over the top or perhaps you can call it
childish, but the music is nice to listen to and party to. If you want music
that's a mix of Anthrax, S.O.D., Nuclear Assault with a guy sounding like Mike
Muir on vocals, you got it!
