What wins you over on the side of these five Finnish thrash heads is their energy and determination more than the actual quality of their songs and the production of their self-financed promo CD. Front woman Valendis comes across with a death punk freshness and gives the classical heavy metal and death metal inspired thrash tapestry of her four compadres a different touch than most other bands out there. I tend to compare this with Cripper from Germany, although they are a few steps ahead of Dead Samaritan when it comes to professionalism and experience.
That said, Dead Samaritan show a will to entertain with diverse songs and tons of different elements taken from the past three decades of thrash and metal, and especially the last five songs have a great drive that I like a lot. So more focus, more determination, and we might have a great band here who'll make a difference.
