Burning Saviours are the latest entry into the ever growing stoner doom metal crowd from Scandinavia. Their EP “Unholy Tales From The North” sounds more ominous than it actually is. Musically they fall in the same bucket as Kadavar or Orchid or any number of bands who clearly love Black Sabbath and want to emulate them. I mean, they have the same initials too!

Performance wise, the band are quite good at playing - the guitar playing is partially adept. The problem is the band sound rather tentative. They never quite rock hard enough when they really need to. The songs themselves aren’t anything to write home about either. The lyrics are rather cheesy too.

It’s a good start for a young band. However, Burning Saviours need better songs and should work on the execution of those songs. There is nothing new here, for sure, but they COULD be. Time will tell.
