All Metal fans will likely agree that Heavy Metal is much more than just the name for a beloved genre. It is something that speaks to one’s heart and soul. Naming anything, be it a song or an album, “Heavy Metal” is therefore always a bold move. It is simply a statement that fans tend to take very seriously, and that will either earn a band praise, or brutal scorn.

Fortunately both for the band (and for *me*) Booze Control’s “Heavy Metal” falls into the first category. It is simply fun to listen to the album with its guitar riffs & solos, and the more than capable singer David Kuri whose singing reminds me a lot of the young Kai Hansen from Helloween’s “Walls Of Jericho” era. Not all songs pack a punch like the extremely fast paced “Hellspawn” of course, but Metal is not just about speed, it is about a certain vibe that the band manages to deliver with this excellent album.

So yes, if you like Old School Heavy Metal then this album is definitely a “must have” and *I* am more than curious to hear more from this promising band!
