I feel stalked by this band. Really. I saw them live three times, unintentionally. As supporting act of Nightwish, Sonata Arctica and Powerwolf. And I never really liked Battle Beast. I still wonder why the hell I chose to review their new album, "Unholy Savior" when it appeared in our list.
I have to admit, Battle Beast surprised me, in a good way. Already the first song, "Lionheart" kicks ass, and, oh goodness, Noora is one hell of a singer. Why didn't I recognize that before? Damn you, people who mixed them live so everything sounded bad.
"Unholy Savior" has everything a good Power Metal album should have. Killer choruses, high belts and fast drums. But that is just one side of the medal. Battle Beast experimented strongly on this record. Not everyone approved. Some fans were even shocked when the first single "Touch In The Night" was released. I totally understand. It's an 80's-synthie-pop-song. But fuck that, I love this song.
With the two ballads "Sea of Dreams" and "Angel Cry", Battle Beasts show another very different side. I can't understand why there are so many reviews leaving just bad comments about them. For me, personally, "Angel Cry" shows the softer side of Noora's voice that produces chills everywhere. And the lyrics are just beautiful. Great job, Anton!
Unfortunately, I will miss the tour with Sabaton, it would have been the first time for me to really enjoy Battle Beast. But this curse existing between me and them will make us meet again. Somewhere, sometime. I am looking forward to this.
