Three Lions consists of Vinny
Burns (Dare, Ten, Asia) on guitars, Greg
Morgan (Dare, Ten) on drums and the
creamy voice from Nigel Bailey on
vocals/bass guitar. Very melodic adult
hard rock with a brilliant production
and played in a significant UK atmosphere and fancy rhythms. The band
was formed when Vinny, Greg and Nigel
were introduced by Frontiers Records big
man Serafino Perugino and the Italian
keyboard genius Alessandro Del Vecchio
at Firefest in 2012. The album is
produced by Alessandro at Ivory Tears
Studio in Milan and that's my friends is
a quality stamp. The production is in
absolute world class.
If you like bands like Asia, Dare,
Ten, Thin Lizzy, Magnum or Gary Moore,
you have a new album to purchase. They
have put a lot of work into the tracks
and I have listen to this album
approximately 20 times and still finds
new favorites that matures more slowly than some
other songs. Clinically clean of filler tracks,
which promises top-rating of course, BUT I consider
that the three lions becomes little too clean and too
sterile at times and I
feel a lack of attitude and energy
occasionally. That's why they don't get
a total score above 90.
Thirteen amazing AOR / Hard Rock tracks
are delivered and I get a big
smile on my face. They spice their rock
up really well with oriental seasoning
in 'Kathmandu' and in the strong song
Asia-like song 'Magdalene' with
screaming guitars they show the width of
the album. Best of all, I like their
variety in both tempo and the different
nuances of the tracks.
Ranging from calm and beautiful
ballads to the more powerful rock n roll
songs. 'Holy Water', 'Hold Me Down',
'Trouble in a Red Dress' and the epic
'Kathmandu' are my favorites on this very
promising debut album.
Thumbs up; a recommended investment.
