This isn't one of my most
awaited releases, this year if I have to be
completely honest with you. Steel
Panther is an American heavy metal band
from Los Angeles, California mostly
known for their exceptional and humorous
lyrics as well as their exaggerated
on-stage presence that re-imagine and
parody of heavy metal music and
the lifestyle of the 1980s. They have so far
released three albums: "Hole Patrol"
(2003), "Feel The Steel" (2009) and
"Balls Out" (2011).
"All You Can Eat" is (as you can
read in the tracklist) smacked with
titles that will your mum
blush. I'm an old hard rocker with taste
for melodic hard rock and this is a darn
good hard rock album, in matter of fact.
I have to ignore the lyrics and focus on
the music and they are really good at
what they do. 'Bukkake Tears' is for instance
one of the most beautiful ballads I've heard this
year (IF you don't pay attention to the text).
'Gangbang at the Old Folks Home' is also
a melodic rock tune with nice groove and
tasty guitar riffs.
The opening song 'Pussywhipped' is one
of the heaviest songs on the album and the vocals
are strong and the guitars are aggressive. The big hit song
on the album is the radio friendly
'Party Like Tomorrow is the End of the
World', which is a typical sleaze rock
song with catchy melodies and it will be a
live favourite with 'easy to learn
chorus'. 'Gloryhole' is another song,
which is better than the title indicates. My
personal favourite is 'The Burden of
Being Wonderful' with smooth, gentle
tempo and funny self ironic lyrics.
The best guitar solo is in the epic
track entitled 'Fucking My Heart in the
Ass', which apart from the the text, is one
of the top songs on the album.
The next song is 'B.V.S.' and
stands for Big Vagina Syndrome. A sleaze
song at an OK standard with nice solo
from Satchel. 'You're Beautiful When You
Don't Talk' is also a song without
extras. In 'If I Was the King' I began
to get tired of the one-track-theme with
pussy, ass etc. The closing song 'She's
on the Rag' is a down tempo rock song
and one of the better tracks on 'All You
Can Eat'.
My overall feelings of this disc is high
on the music and low on the
text, so the overall rating is in an
high OK level. If you are a fan of this
band, you know what to expect. If you get an opportunity to
see them live,
it's good to remember that they do it
for the show and entertainment.
