German band Sinbreed with the Blind Guardian members Marcus Siepen (guitars) and Frederik Emhmke (drums) in the line-up releases with 'Shadows' their second album. When you turn on the first song, you will immediately recognize the vocals of Herbie Langhans (Seventh Avenue). His characteristic singing style fits the music. He still sounds a lot like the little brother of Biff Bifford.

From start to finish the songs on the album are played with full speed ahead and you hardly get time to recover. The songs are aggressive, have a big headbang factor, the riffs are strong and the double bassdrums are tortured like Frederik is bitten by a rattlesnake. The band doesn't forget to put nice melodies in the songs and together with the melodic singing of Herbie it makes the music a bit more accessible. At times a song leans towards speed metal for example in tracks like "Reborn" and "Far too Long". At the start of the last track "Broken Wings" you have a short period to recover from all the heavy riffs and high tempi, but not for long. After less than a minute the band steps on the gas pedal again. With Markus Teske (Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Saga and many more) behind the mixing and mastering equipment the sound of the album can't be wrong.

If you are looking for an album to headbang to with heavy riffing and melody, you can't ignore the new Sinbreed! Wimpy cheesy happy metal fans have been warned.
