Raspberry Park is a new Danish hard
rocking band. This is their debut album and what an amazing first release
they deliver! ALL fans of Melodic Rock,
Hard Rock, Classic Rock and AOR have to
check this up. 'Scratchin' The Surface'
is an exciting experience with classy
hard rocking rhythms and a lead singer
with the proper rasp and hoarseness of
the vocal chords; this is a lovely
melodious music experience!
The entire album is extremely well
written and the mix of quieter songs
with the tougher and faster tracks makes
it an a delightful experience of
melodic hard rock and each song has its
own character. They manage to get some
more modern touches in their classic
melodic hard rock. The guitars are
perfectly matched and they balance the
tracks into near-perfection. I dare
stick out my chin out and say that we
with this album have a new Nordic world-class band in the Scandi AOR genre.
Mikkel Bryden on vocals has both a
silky, smooth tone and a strong powerful
voice, which he use wisely. I like the
opening track 'On the Battlefield' with
strong melodic chorus and nice guitars.
Raspberry Park plays mature hard rock
with flirts of influences from
Beatles, Guns n Roses, Journey, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Mr. Big
and Pretty Maids. 'Paradise' might be the best
track on the album together with the
bluesy track 'Straight to the Bone'. The
catchy party song 'Friends & Lovers'
is also a nice track with nice rhythms
and splendid singing from Mikkel. I have
to mention the catchy song 'Make Me
Wonder' also, that is a awesome rock n
roll song.
No dips or any filler songs, is
usually rewarded with good overall ratings and
this is no exception. Strong, adult hard rock with
high quality stamp are my
final words.
If you like nice melodies and a good vocalist
surrounded by talented musicians, this is something
you need to check out.
