From the outset, it's hard not to like the debut from Norwegian Purple Hill Witch if you like Black Sabbath. You could say that the foundation is in place.

From that perspective, the album is alright. 'Purple Hill Witch' is for the most part a slow album, and it does have a good flow. This is both good and bad, the downside being that the album tends to become a long droning affair, and to be frank, without any characteristics that make it something really special and sets it aside from all the many other doom bands of this world.

If you want to check this out, your best bet is the eleven-minute title track.
