Entitled after the EP's first track, a re-master of the original from the I EP (2004), and the reason for this new Meshuggah release, I gives you a complete introduction to the band.

After you listen to I, the concept of math-metal will not have any secrets for you anymore. Characterised by focusing for the most on rhythmics and syncopations, you will also find a diversity in the melody lines of both bass and regular guitars.

The contradiction in the sentence above will be obvious to the Meshuggah knower, as nothing is regular with Meshuggah. They play 8-string guitars, they will hold shrieked notes forever, they will manage to hypnotize you, constantly pushing you through new musical horizons.

With "I", you will get a lesson of intensity. "Bleed" (obZen, 2008), where math metal meets with speed metal and death metal, shows the tightness of the band. "Dancers to a Discordant System" (obZen, 2008) will call you to a darker place only to lash you further, while "Pitch black" (2013) will round up on atmospherical notes.

So what do the adepts say? If the choice of tracks was a winner, you tell me.
You other metal people, order "I" now!
