When
in 2010 AFM Records signed with KORZUS, the
Brazilian are already a band with significant history. Founded
in 1983, they pass thru time without serious changes in the line up. Three of their members remain till nowadays.
Although this is the fifth album of the band, their musical seeking has also
remarkable stability!
Without
coming out from the shell of thrash metal, the five musicians
offer us an angry perusal. The vocals of Marcello Pompeu are
passionate like the metal-core bands. The
high note of aggressive singing is kept without unnecessary decorations. The
result is close to GENERATION KILL – the band of Rob Dukes (ex-EXODUS). At the same time in the riffs made by the double
guitar attack are implemented specific only for KORZUS melodies. The love
toward noise is missing. Typically for the South-American bands the crystal
clear guitars pin every metal tone with remarkable precision in the monolith
wholeness of „Legion“. The drum cannonade does not miss a strike
that could be made in the duration of the recording while touching the
blasts, and sounding even too precise.
Although
the plenty resemblances with their previous album „Discipline of Hate“ (2010),
KORZUS walk
to modernization of their sound, and in their contemporary work the whole
sound is placed toward the higher register. Combined with their
uncompromising and unique thrash metal, they definitely are a remarkable
band. The eponymous of the album song lays the final scheme of the work while
replacing the endless aggression with touching melodies and social lyrics in
the most serious traditions of SACROSANCT. Besides my hottest recommendations to hear
