I love when CD's appear out of the blue in the postbox and prove to be both excellent craftsmanship and entertaining. When I use the term entertaining, I don't use in the sense of being ha ha funny, of course. I mean entertaining in the sense that the band, in this case Polish black/death metal band Hyperial, understand that songs must offer variation and still be full and rounded SONGS. Hyperial are convincing indeed!

In little over half an hour, the quintet provides the listener with a lesson in raw and direct brutality, interwoven cleverly with melody and keyboard tapestries. There hints at several peers from both the black metal and death genres, to name but a few, there's Immolation, Gojira, Morbid Angel, Fear Factory and Dimmu Borgir to be recognised in the capable blend of heaviness. There are plenty of pinch harmonics, breaks, blast beats, The technical level is high, the production and mix splendid. All in all a majestic release, this one.
