Fans of Adrenaline Mob, System
of a Down, Disturbed or Avenged
Sevenfold, who still haven't discovered
the Americans in Fozzy need to wake up!
Fozzy is back with another piece of
rocking/metal art. I got their previous
album (Sin and Bones) in my inbox about
2 years ago and was impressed by these
hard working guys. Fozzy is fronted by
the powerful former WWE wrestler Chris
Jericho and he sings better this time.
The blend of different metal/rock styles
makes this a perfect disc to have on at
the rock n roll party or when you are
working out and want some extra boost in
your tired body or in your weak mind.
They have relevant song titles
in the tracklist. With the conflict in
Ukraine present is 'Do You Wanna Start a
War' a very important question for
Russia to ask. 'Bad Tattoo' is a
stiff metal track with dark guitars and
groovy choruses. It felt like an Marilyn
Manson song in the beginning of 'Lights
Go Out'. Very heavy drums and fantastic
vocals from Chris! Sounded like an young
healthy Ozzy Osbourne. 'Died With You'
is a heavy rock tune in an slower pace
than the earlier tracks and more of an
melodic hard rock song. Just like the
next song 'Tonight' (featuring Michael
Starr from Steal Panther) which is also
a track more like an classic hard rock
song with catchy rhythms.
'Brides of Fire' is something
completely different! A much darker,
faster and heavier track with some
growling/grunting vocals. A song that kicks
ass....They surprise me sometimes and
when 'One Crazed Anarchist' begins I
start wonder what the hell is this? A
quite epic track with brush strokes of
Alice In Chains, Creed or Staind.
'Unstoppable' remind me of my old
favourites in Faith No More. Groovy as
hell and great singing makes my leg
starts to move.
When their cover of ABBA's 'SOS'
starts, I began searching my brain
archive and I had a big smile on my face
when the penny fell down. A very good
choice to do a remake of and they kept
the magical original parts. As a closing
track 'Witchery' is a perfect song with
tons of energy, aggressive riffs and
a mix of progressive and modern metal
with several vocal tones.
Overall is 'Do You Wanna Start a
War' a hilly journey in different rock,
metal genres and if you have a wide
musical taste, this might be a pleasant album
for you to enjoy. A fat, greasy, but tasty
rock/metal album to digest this summer. Fozzy is
a hard working band that aims
high and
their future looks interesting
with two so strong albums in the
backpack.
Not the best I've heard this
year, but a very solid piece of rock n
roll!
