When our editor wrote me and asked if I wanted to review the new Cannibal Corpse I was like 'Yeah, I had no idea there was a new CC on the way, but sure, send it!' I downloaded the package from the server and opened the folder. 'Hmm, he must've misspelled it,' I thought, because the next folder inside the main folder was called CanniBIS Corpse. Of course, it turned out to be an entirely different band. Our dear editor hadn't noticed and we laughed a bunch about that.

Nevermind, the outfit CanniBIS Corpse is well-worth a listen! The band was started by Municipal Waste bassist and singer LandPhil and his brother, drummer HallHammer back in 2006. The guitarist Brent Legion completes the line-up. If you look at the song titles below you'll notice that they bear a striking resemblance with some of the greatest death metal songs and that they all related to smoking weed. That's funny! But that's actually as far as the joke goes.

The music you find on 'From Wisdom To Baked' isn't Benny Hill type of music, that's for sure. This is kick-arse death metal in the old-school American vein. CanniBAL Corpose, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Macabre, a bit of it all has been thrown into the meatgrinder and served very convincingly. It's straightforward, but never boring. Great stuff for fans of the old school like myself!
