Stefan Lindholm is the founder
and the brilliant Yngwie-style guitarist in Vindictiv
from Gothenburg, Sweden. He is also the producer of
their new album 'Cage of Infinity'. They have two
previous albums from 2008 (Vindictiv) and 2009
(Ground Zero) in their discography. This album is a
tiny step into a little different metal direction,
if I compare it with the full progressive and
technical album 'Ground Zero'.
'Cage of Infinity' is not a mega-complex or highly
advanced as the previous productions. In several
tracks it sounds more like, classic hard
rock/neo-classical heavy metal, but Stefan gives
himself plenty of space to show off with his
shredding ability and excellent musical
craftsmanship.
In the opening track 'The Chosen', which is a
powerful and captivating track with splendid effort
from the Italian powerhouse Marco Sandron (ex-Eden's
Curse) on vocals.
Stefan has several magic moments
with his guitar and he spiced it with a lot of hot
progressive riffs in the title track 'Cage of
Infinity'. Marco Sandron is an Italian
lead singer most known as a former member in Edens Curse. He is the successor to Göran
Edman, the former vocalist in Vindictiv. It's not an
easy task to shoulder the great Göran's mantle, but
I think Marco manages that part just perfectly. They
have quite similar voices, but Marco hasn't the same
vocal width and power as Göran in the vocal chords.
Marco has other assets in his voice that gives
Vindictiv a tougher and more raw sound. Together with
the clear, razor sharp guitar riffs, a dynamic drum
work and solid bass playing, Vindictive has created
an excellent wall of metal sound.
This disc wouldn't have reached the high grade
without the special moments from Stefan. It
would be like a bit too hard grilled piece of meat,
without juiciness and spiciness. Just a hard surface without
edible content...
No, 'Cage of Infinity' is disc that grows in every
spin and is a nice musical dish.
