The boogie rockers Status Quo was originated named The Spectres, founded by the schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in 1962. After a number of lineup changes, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and finally Status Quo in 1969. Rick Parfitt and John Coghlan are also two of the original members; Parfitt joined the band 1967. This was the solid core of the mighty Status Quo with over 60 chart hits in the UK. John Coghlan left the band -81 and in -86 took Alan Lancaster a long time out. In March, 2013 they reunited temporarily and did a few performances in the UK. The 15th of March at Wembley Arena they recorded a live-DVD and this double-live album. The track list is smacked with oldies from the albums from the beginning of the 70's. They play nothing recorded after 1976 and avoid most of the well-worn hit songs. It's only new songs to me and maybe this is an album for the true long-time fans of Status Quo? This sounds very different compared to the hit songs I knew them for and Rossi and Parfitt can absolutely play more than four chords, that is a fact. This is more of a blues and classic rock n roll album. I think that my mother will get this as a present because she was young when these songs were newly written and is the right target group. The veterans do a fantastic work at this show and the audience is excited. A given purchase if you are a blood fan of Status Quo or if you are older than 60 and want some old and well swinging rock n roll. I am obviously too young... |
