Stala & So is known as a Finnish hard rock band, which plays in colors and shades of the sleaze and glam rock. Their first album 'It Is So' was released in September 2011 and if I compare it with this new album 'Play Another Round', I believe that they've taken a step on the rock ladder in the right direction in my view. Stala & So is still in the melodic rock genre, but the songs are more mature this time. They have the same positive energy as before with some easy going pop/rock tracks. Their front man and vocalist Sampsa "Stala" Astela is a better singer on this album and maybe the American producer Beau Hill has contributed with some important inputs. I wouldn't call Stala & So a glam rock band, no I believe that they play more into the classic hard rock on this new album. One of the big songs on the disc is the first track 'Rock until I’m Done', which was released as a single in November 2012. An up-tempo song with catchy guitars and strong vocals. The Aldo Nova similar song 'Tokyo Delights' is also one of the better tracks on the album. It's always interesting to listen to a band that develops and sets new musical targets. 'Back Together' is a strong power ballad and it isn't anything that I expected from these guys. My overall impression of 'Play Another Round' is a more mature album, but still in the lighter pop/hard rock genre. Keep up the good work! Line up: |
