Slovakia has its own Tobias Sammet. Bass player Ronnie König is his name and together with many guest musicians he has released concept albums on a regular base. This is the third one and from starters vocalist Göran Edman is a pertinent partner in this project. This time they have decided to tell the story about the exodus of the Israeli out of Egypt lead by Moses and based on the bible book Exodus out of the Old Testament. As a reviewer I get thrown from one extreme to the other. I just listened to black metal from the band Beltez and now this. Besides several guest musicians, the most interesting part are the guest singers. Matt Smith, Daisy Munhoz, Michael Vescera, Lance King, Eli Prinsen, Samuel Nyman, Thomas L. Winkler, Mayo Petrani and of course Göran Edman. With this arsenal the base for a good album is there. Like on the first two album the music is European power metal with a lot of melody and the usual orchestral keyboard parts. The songs all differ from each other and that is a good thing. I think that is because the songs are written with the performing singer in mind. The artwork is nice, the production is good, the musicians are skilled, the songs are rather well written, but I can't get really exited about this album. It all sounds a bit too safe. It's just another power metal album with orchestral parts, never stopping double bass drums with different singers, nothing more and nothing less. I have listened to so many power metal bands this year and this is sure music I like, but without any real surprises. Regular, or should I say average well performed power metal that will be liked by every power metal fan, but special? No! | ||||||||||||||||||
