Mike Slamer of City Boy and Streets and Billy Greer of Streets and Kansas are the founders of this magnificent melodic hard rock project called Seventh Key. Their debut disc was released in 2001 and the second album 'The Raging Fire' came in 2004. Almost ten long years have I been waiting for this album and finally is 'I Will Survive' in my possession. I had mega high expectations of this new album and I don't think I'm alone about that feeling. Mr. Slamer usually creates a smooth and unique sound behind the mixer table and he is also the producer of this album. I find 'I Will Survive' extremely interesting and breathtaking in the beginning and in the two opening tracks I just fall into my big armchair and just inhale the wall of high quality progressive hard rock and Slamer/Greer overrun me with. Title track 'I Will Survive' is the best song on the entire album and breathe more of the progressive rock style than I had expected. 'Lay In on the Line' is more in the classic Slamer productions with very groovy guitars. 'I See You There' is a monster ballad with Asia sounding similarities. 'It’s Just a State of Mind' and 'Sea of Dreams' are surprisingly simple songs from these brilliant musicians. 'When Love Sets You Free' is not a killer track, but have some extravagance guitar moves, which save it from my axe. My high expectations of this album are not totally fulfilled. First half is very good, but I can't give this album the top score I was hoping for. A decent overall rating is my final conclusion. Not a future classic Slamer album, but a very good candy bag with many goodies. If you are a fan and like the previous works from these rock n roll giants you will not be disappointed.
