Line-up: Guests: This progmetal project hails from Israel and is a rather complex piece with a concept story (about WW III) thought out by Yoatam Avni (Prey For Nothing). Like you can read above the band had a few guests, who have already earned their stripes in the metal genre. After the first spin I was a bit flabbergasted, was it good or was it a so so album... I couldn't really tell. Besides the bombastic heavier parts there are softer easy listening pieces with piano and after the first spin I had the idea that there were a few too many of them. But I listened again.... and again.... and again... and I must conclude that it all is in perfect balance and that I was mistaken, there are a lot more heavy parts. This surely is an album that will get better after each spin and the combination of female, clean and more harsh aggressive singing keep the songs interesting. Personal favourite is "Distant Similarities", that track has it all; aggression, a superb keyboard solo and interesting different singing styles. Progressive symphonic opera metal could be a right description for this style. Bombast, choir singing, furious fast parts, piano parts, keyboard parts everything can be found here. There are parts reminding me of bands like Kamelot, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Iced Earth, Epica and many others..., but it is the combination of all these parts that make this album what it is. I don't think there will be any prog metal fan spitting on this. The best prog metal album so far this year in my eyes... | ||||||||||||||||||
