The universe is full of colossal, violent, wonderful and mysterious phenomena, from gamma-ray bursts to supermassive black holes swallowing stars, from ancient Lyman-alpha blobs forming galaxies to Andromeda-Milky Way collision in four billion years, and driven by the four fundamental forces of physics, which are the real "gods".

Far beyond human imagination, always testing our weak comprehension, the cosmos is also an unlimited source of inspiration for the artists, and last but not the least for Neokhrome and its "Perihelion", the point at which an orbiting object is closest to the Sun.

The Hungarian trio from Debrecen (formerly Neochrome: see review) is not burning its wings like Icarus. The band has wide-open ears, picking diverse influences from progressive rock to symphonic black metal, to serve its own purpose, its evolution. You can for example trace here and there its previous tour with Negură Bunget.

"Perihelion" searches and finds this fragile but key balance between violence and melody, deadly riffs and atmospheric keyboards, vocals made of raspy black metal voice and lyrical parts, still with a real sense for songwriting.

Vasvári Gyula and friends deliver a self-produced masterpiece, in the shape of a stellar digipack, artwork by Gyula “Hjules” Havancsák.

Be ready to go on a flying journey, loud and far away. Astronomy Domine!
