Sometimes we receive a little
cautious mail with a small wish that if we could
listen to their album a door will open into a ear
fest. I was really surprised that a band from Israel
had such love for the old catchy 80s century hard
rock. Loud n' Clear was formed in 2003 and had a
apparently a 'hit single' in 2004 (Runaway). They
divided a year after and reunited in 2011 with a few
changes in the line-up.
The first song 'New Solution' is a party track with
splendid guitars and high pitch vocal. 'Hold on' is
more in the classic hard rock theme and contains
decent guitar riffs and is a rather anonymous song.
The only thing that stands out is a dazzling guitar
solo. In 'Rise' the guitars are stiffer and the tone
heavier and the vocals are stronger. 'Without You'
is a down-tempo song and is rescued by the two
eminent guitarists Amir Eldor and Tommy Foxx, they
are the reason why I took the time and listen to the
whole song. In the next song the tempo is up and
'Poison Love' is a song in the middle of the score
scale. The glam metal song 'Breathe' is another song
that the two guitarists lifts from a pale song to a
pretty strong track.
The have the old "hit song" Runaway as the closing
track on the album and excuse me, but I've never
heard the song before and is an OK track. Nowadays,
I'm not sure if it would even be released as a
single... They have better songs in their portfolio;
'Playing with Thunder'.
My overall impression: it is noticeable that they
are a little rusty, but they have some cool
seasonings that make this album worth looking for.
Especially if you like strong guitar playing and
catchy melodies from the sweet 80's.
