Little River Band was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975. It was originally a blend of musicians, who had enjoyed success in other Australian acts. Their new focus was to get air time on American radio, and they achieved that goal with great song writing, powerful vocals, and guitar harmonies. To this present day they have released 15 studio albums, four live albums, five compilation albums, and 35 singles. This current version of Little River Band hasn't any original members, but the legacy with high quality vocals, very melodic harmonies, excellent musical craftsmanship is still there. Well written and mature rock songs very suitable for the attractive American rock market. I'm not an old fan of the band and had to open up the history books to find information. 'Cuts Like a Diamond' is an album that requires several listening to discover all the small delicacies that are embedded in the tracks. It opens with 'The Lost and the Lonely' and this is a classic rock song with ASIA, Yes and Foreigner touch. 'Forever You Forever Me', 'Cuts Like a Diamond' and 'I'm an Island' are true love-songs and are very atmospheric and sensitive. One good song with nice guitar loops is 'What If You're Wrong' that I found delicious. 'Who Speaks for Me' is also a song worth to mention; a nice track with little heavier sound, but still melodic as hell. My overall impression is; an album for the adult rock fans. This is maybe borderline the softest rock on this metal site. I love the songs and the well balanced production, but lacks some energy and groove. A nice album when you want to relax or are unhappily in love. Line
