Power metal and hard rock, well there are indeed elements of
both. It could do without the epic length of power metal though. Unfortunately
this album is far too long. The title track particularly reminds me of the end
of the final Lord of the Rings movie. I regrettably found myself thinking 'please
just END!' It lasts 10 minutes. 4 of the 12 songs take up almost half the total
running time of just over an hour.
It hits the right spots so many places. The guitar work is progressive for the
genre, and a very positive factor for the album as a whole. There is well
thought out lyrical content, particularly the very personal dedication "Farewell
Father" and 'The Picture Of Dorian Grey'.
The riffs are catchy but because of the sheer length of them it is difficult to
maintain interest. If only they had shortened the album just a little it could
have been better.
That is the reason it only JUST falls short of a rock solid rating. Shorter
songs would have easily made a rock solid rating, maybe even higher.
