An album I have been looking forward to. What is it that we want to hear from former Exodus vocalist Steve Souza? Devastating old school thrash metal of course and that is what we get on this album. This album breaths thrash metal like we want it, the eighties re-live and Exodus... sorry, Hatriot gives us a lesson. Due to the recognizable vocals of Steve, it all sounds very Exodus like, but there are a few minor differences. Father Souza is joined by both his sons; Coby (bass) and Nick (drums). Both are very skilled and you can hear that they grew up with more modern metal bands. In some songs drummer Nick shows that by using some blast beats. They form a very good rhythm section and they are sure not in the band because they are family, they are just good musicians. Even the two guitar players Kosta V. and Miguel Esparza are youngsters and you hear the hunger in their playing style. Their big heroes are Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt, can that be a coincidence? With captain Steve behind the mike the crew performs first class. All the songs are the same high level and the production of Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Testament) is perfect. If you are an Exodus fan and still prefer Steve Souza over Rob Dukes, this is your chance. This is Bay Area thrash metal how it was invented back then, the first thrash metal hammer of 2013 is a fact. | ||||||||||||||||||
