''Mood Swings'' was Harem Scarem's second album, which was
released in 1993. Harem Scarem celebrates its 20 anniversary as
a band and this is a re-recording with the eleven original songs
and they have added three new bonus tracks in the same style as
the original songs from -93. Their latest album was 'Hope' from
2008 and after that disc they disbanded.
I know that they have reunited and will be on tour in Europe,
Asia this autumn/winter. This Canadian melodic hard rock band
has the great vocalist Harry Hess as the given front man and on
guitar is Pete Lesperance doing a magnificent work. Drummer is
Darren Smith and on bass - Creighton Doane.
They have thirteen discs under their belt and this album is
maybe one of their best releases. Brilliant songs with timeless
harmonies packed in a new digital and a flawless production.
Harry's sleazy vocals are just like tasty seasonings to this
melodic smorgasbord. I love the guitar playing through this
album, especially on the short instrumental track 'Mandy'. The
first tune on the album is the strong 'Saviors Never Cry' which
is one of the best tracks. The surprisingly heavy track with a
very groovy rhythm 'No Justice' is grabbing me at the core and
is put in the save folder. The radio friendly track 'Stranger
than Love' is a very melodic song with elegant guitars. 'Change
Comes Around' is also one of the better songs on the album with
an up-tempo and I get a positive feeling when I listen to this
song. 'Jealousy' is a bluesy rock song with a soul-music mood
into it.
I jump to the three new bonus tracks and these songs sound very
promising. IF they want to proceed as a band and hopefully do a
re-start with a new album with new songs they will attract me
anyway. I've found it interesting to re-discover this album and
I have read that the upcoming tour will do a little turn to
Sweden also. The first time ever!!
Must check my calendar...
