Nick Walsh is the frontman and vocalist in Famous Underground, which hails from Toronto, Canada. This is their self-titled debut album and this sounds like you blends several ounces of 80's hairy band hard rock, a cup of bully grunge rock and spice it up with a creamy topping of modern sleaze rock. It's hard to put Famous Underground in a specific jar of rock/metal. There are some tracks that's really heavy and sounds like they are pure metal songs with screaming guitars and dark groovy sounds, like in the stiff intro track 'Wasteland' and such tracks like in 'Mommy is a Junkie' and 'Bullet Train'. 'Wheels Of Misfortune' is an astonishing song with mega heavy guitars within. In the melancholic song 'Necropolis' is a very dark tone and the brilliant singer handles all the different rock styles. I prefer the cleaner and gentler tracks; 'Dead Weight', 'Love Stands Still'. I quite often return to the classy ballads 'Forever and a Day' and 'On Broken Wings'. This is a new interesting Canadian project, which is worth checking out if you are a fan of dusty, american hard rock with a little darker touch. Warrant packed in a metal cover. |
