What I really like about this Dutch black metal release is that A. it's not traditional Norwegian black metal, B. it's diverse and offers a lot of variation (acoustic parts, blast, mid tempo, it's all there) and draws upon among others Dimmu Borgir as a source of inspiration and C. it's not just a clone of aforementioned inspirational source - Dystopia actually seem to have their own ideas.
That said, it's very, very hard for me to ignore the fact the production of this EP really sucks. It sounds as if the band's playing in a cardboard box lined with insulation. I think this is probably the worst production I've heard this year. This of course influences the rating. Otherwise a fine effort which shows a lot of potential.
