Back in 2010 I heard about a new interesting rock band from Stockholm, Sweden with a debut album with a different style and with a classy touch in the Scandinavian AOR genre. I was totally blow away after the first listenings through web-links and streaming applications online and I tried to get my hands on the hardcopy of 'Degreed's first album 'Life, Love, Loss'. So, I was extremely excited to get the chance to write about this release. Could they make the challenging follow-up album? Because their debut album was smacked with young, fresh and energetic melodic hard rock with stunning vocals and catchy melodies. After a hot summer with 'We Don't Belong' I can tell all the fans: No worries, this is another step into perfection! Degreed is one of best bands in my latitude in the melodic hard rock genre and that's not an overstatement. The vocals are flawless and ultra strong in all ten tracks and I don't get tired of it, because they spice it with easy digest radio hits like the splendid songs 'Access Denied' and 'Inside Of Me' and pure AOR tracks like the very melodic tune 'In for the Ride'. The blend of silky melodies in 'Coming Home' and the rougher hard rock songs like the best tunes on the album; the strong intro track 'Black Cat' and 'Blind Hearted', which hits me right between the eyes. The only negative thing about 'We Don't Belong' is that nine of ten songs are below the four minute marker. The total playing time is just over the half hour. Apart from that is this a gold piece to have in your phone, iPod, car, CD-player, pc, Mac, or wherever you consume your music. Everything is packed and produced by the great Erik Lidbom. I am very pleased to give 'Degreed' both my thumbs up and give this recommendation to all fans of H.E.A.T, W.E.T, Work of Art, Eclipse and other bands in the Scandi melodic rock genre and to the readers, who never heard of these guys: BUY both their albums!! You won't regret it. Degreed DO Belong! Degreed: | ||||||||||||||||||
