Black Spiders music is fast paced, high energetic rock 'n' roll and has a blend of influences from bands like Black Sabbath, Motörhead, AC/DC, Turbonegro, Led Zeppelin, The Stooges and Aerosmith. No high technical frills or advanced loops, just straight forward rock n roll with one-helluva attitude. Black Spiders hails from Sheffield, UK and is one of the strongest new stoner rock bands in Europe.

Pete 'Spider' Spiby on vocals is the given front man in the band and he has an impressive wide spectrum in his voice mode and he sings just absolutely phenomenal. He handles both the highest and clearest notes just as perfect as in the grainier songs. I'm not the biggest fan of the stoner rock genre, but Black Spiders has packed their songs in a different kind of package and this is just brilliant performed. Old fashion rock n roll with great swing and a lot of groovy riffs, which are breathtaking for an old rock head like me. After the AC/DC 'Let There Be Rock' intro the words in the opening track 'Knock You Out' are kicking my butt so hard and the effervescent and anaconda aggressive guitar riffs smack me right in the face! Come on guys, gimme a breath of fresh air.

Next track is a punkish song in the same high pace with a slight touch of the magic Motörhead rock 'n' roll formula. 'Balls' is one of my personal favorite songs with some gentler melodies and in a slower tempo. 'Young Tongues' is a groovy and heavy song with killer sounding drums. Suddenly there is a song (Put Love In Its Place) with The Beatles similarities in the opening, but turns slightly into a Soundgarden song. Very exciting musical journey throughout the ten tracks.

An insane mix of the rock genres results in a mega strong product, which must be attractive for the fans of the garage/stoner rock genre. 'Trouble' is a stiff classical rock track with sharp guitars and is a nice hanging out in the pub track. The Motörhead track 'Teenage Knife Gang' could be a song on 'Aftershock'. I only waited to hear Lemmy's calm and gentle voice to echo through my speakers. 'Creatures' is one of the tracks I don't get in my spine, even though there is some marvelous guitar loops that are very tasty.

The closing song 'Sleepy Demon' is a big fat stoner rock tune and it concludes a musical ride with a very talented rock band that surely has a bright future on the bigger scenes.

Worth checking out and a purchase.
