Zardens is a Belgian band (project) formed by Warnacht (guitars, bass) and Pascal Moraux (vocals, guitars, bass, keys, programming). For the recording of this album they found Jonas Sanders (drums) to help them out. Their music can't convince me because it is all too average and not special enough.

Not all the songs are strong enough. One of the better songs is "The Undead", in which the band uses lots of Satyricon influences. In the info it is stated that their music is food for fans of Dissection, Necrophobic, Nifelheim, Darkthrone and indeed Satyricon. I can live with that, but they do not have the same impact and quality yet if you ask me. The songs have a black metal base with death influences and thrash riffs. For a debut it isn't bad, but they lack originality and good songwriting. For a black metal band the sound and production is good.

A nice base to develop a more own style on and for the black metal fans I think it is good enough to take a listen and decide if you like it.
