Female fronted metal bands is popping up like weeds in my yard nowadays, following the waves generated by successful bands Epica, Nightwish, Evanescence, Arch Enemy, After Forever, Within Temptation and so on. The Murder of My Sweet is a Swedish symphonic/goth metal band with the brilliant vocalist Angelica Rylin, who is blessed with a mighty and a beautiful voice, which stands very good in comparison with the other females in the mentioned bands.

Their debut album was released in 2010 ("Divanity") and was (in my ears) one of the strongest debut albums that year. Now it's time to show us if they can still hold that high level on this piece of art. The band has 2 new members in Christopher Vetter on guitar and Teddy Westlund on the bass in front of the composer and drummer Daniel Flores. The sound has grown and the melodies have new power and energy. Strong and smooth melodies blended with great hooked guitar riffs, which create a wonderful soundscape. "Bye Bye Lullaby" is an overall better album than "Divanity". Angelica handles the faster metal songs and the darker symphonic goth ballads so perfectly, so I wonder how the rest of the band can manage a career without her. She stands for the quality and the special sound that puts The Murder of My Sweet in the same metal division as Sirenia, Delain and Xandria. They almost have climbed into my personal top-10 list of female fronted metal bands .... just almost.

If they keep up this good work and carry on delivering marvelous songs and follow their own path with their darker tones mixed with these sparking melodic metal songs, they can go all the way. I will have "Bye Bye Lullaby" in my Ipod for a long time even after this review.

This is nothing for the extreme metal fans to put any attention to, but if you like superb singing performance, smacking guitars, groovy and well produced progressive melodies, this is something you should't miss.

Best tracks: 'Violently Peaceful', 'Unbreakable', 'I Dare You', 'Black September', 'Kind of Lousy' and the wonderful ballad 'Meant to Last Forever'.
