Just before the year 2000, this Swedish band was formed. After an EP they released their first full-length in 2005. This is their third release and it is plain old school heavy metal this band serves. The typical high vocals of Oscar Carlquist have the perfect sound for this style of music. Sometimes you hear a little King Diamond sound, like in the track "....Comes from the Mouth Beyond", immediately in the next track "Release Me" he also uses a more raw singing style. In "Release Me" even Lenny Wolf enters my mind.

Besides the vocals, the music has references to Mercyful Fate too. The typical breaks and even the guitar sound do remind me of them. Another band that they use influences of is Iron Maiden. The song "Defiant" is a good example of that. The typical Iron Maiden galloping rhythms, singing style, guitar harmonies and bass-lines can be heard in this song. The track "Frozen" is a slow one that can not impress me a lot, the weakest track if you ask me. Fortunately they compensate that with the next song "Under the Scythe", a very fast track leaning towards speed metal tempo.

Which very popular 80's metal band didn't I mention yet? Correct, Judas Priest. "Flame of the Tyrants" is RAM's version of a heavily JP influenced track. The vocals are very over the top, but that just puts the icing on the cake here. The first and last track are instrumentals that don't add anything to this CD and I hope they will leave them away on the next album and in stead record one 'real' track more. That is the only thing that influences their rating a little bit, for the rest this is a CD that will be liked by all 80's heavy metal adapts. Even the album sound is a bit 80's.

Let your hair swing and raise your fist!
