Fourth full-length release of the band, The
second Wind was not my first encounter with Lekamen Illusionen Kallet
(LIK).
I have to admit the memory of LIK doesn't quite correspond to what I'm
hearing here, but again what I'd heard of them was in such a poor quality that I
took it to be old-school black metal of the most obscure sort. Maybe it was?
Anyway, it was appealing back then.
The second Wind is a rocky, catchy record, in the vein of many mid tempo
old-school black metal acts from the North. Nothing wrong with that, as you
understand. Unfortunately there is a void in the expression, all along the
record. The connections between the instruments and the voice is distant, so
distant. It is also difficult to blame it on an inadequate production.
The second Wind is anyway to my ears bare, flat, as if following a flow
of neutrality, which seems to be in the air du temps in art these days.
