Neat, clean, organized, well polished and a high gloss nuance of the melodic rock surface is how to make a simple and concise description of the Finnish hard rockers of Human Temple's third studio album 'Halfway to Heartache'. Their debut album 'Insomnia' was released in 2004 and in 2010 their second album 'Murder of Crows' hit the markets. This is Scandinavian melodic rock in the lightweight division with brilliant melodies and a grandios vocalist in Janne Hurme. In the first track 'I Will Follow' is the sirens screaming and the tempo is high, guitars are setting off in a fast pace with galloping choruses and I can't sit still in my chair! In 'Bleeding Through' the pace slows down into mid-tempo and the corners of the mouth goes down a bit, but quickly turns up when 'Like a Beat of a Heart' begins to flow out of the speakers with a super tight production and magic vocals from JH and with nice hooks and sophistication guitar riffs from Risto Touminen. 'Almost There' is one of my favourite tunes on the album with great variation and elegant melodies and catchy guitars will these guys climb in my melodic rock list of new stars in the rock sky. 'Run Away' is a mediocre track that we skips, and focus on the cover of Fleetwood Mac' song 'Little Lies' and as usual as it is with covers; the orginal production is unbeatable, althought Jannes singing performance is strong - the skip button is pressed again. The following track is much better: ' Because of You', where they go back to predecessor's melodic style and Human Temple gives us is one of the strongest tracks of the album with the heavy track 'Misery'. Overall this is a positive experience for me and if you are a fan of music in the melodic rock / AOR genre and then this is a band that you gotta check out. I wish that the quality had been less uneven in the tracklist, because 7 songs are top class, and 4 are more so-so, so the rating is fair. Human Temple is Janne Hurme - Vocals, Risto Tuominen - Guitars, Kalle Saarinen - Drums, Jori Tojander - Keyboards, Harri Kinnunen - Bass, Spec Guest: Emppu Vourinen from Nightwish! | ||||||||||||||||||
