Some albums you
immediately form a special relationship to.
In the case of Danish Electric Hellride's debut album, this is the story:
I'd been impressed by Electric Hellride's live performance at the Aalborg Metal Festival a couple of weeks ago, and singer/bassist Casper handed me a copy of the CD after the gig. Which of course is very nice.
That's one thing, but more importantly, when I was driving home from Aalborg Saturday, in the dead of night, when my bed was screaming for me, it was this very CD which kept me awake during the two-and-a-half-hour drive!
And there is certainly enough on 'Hate.Control.Manipulate' to keep any thrash metal fan awake. With strong undertones of US hardcore a la 1994, the Copenhagen band has a drive which can't be ignored and the song writing talent to go with it. They shred, they groove, they put melody in there too, and front man Casper throws a brutal thrash vocal with lots of balls.
If I were to pick a favourite tune from the album, I'd go for Exhaling Chaos. It's probably not the obvious hit song, I know, but it has a different feel than the rest of songs on here, mainly because Electric Hellride give themselves the time to slow down a bit and also throw more melody into the pot.
Electric Hellride are on the list of bands to watch out for - there's little doubt that there's great potential here.
