One of Finlands best power metal bands releases their fifth (Epsilon) album. The band started in 1999 and released in 2002 their debut album 'Beyond Reality'. On that album Marco Hietala (Nightwish) also had a contribution.

On this new album the six members do a great job. Singer Erkki Seppänen has a very clear and melodic voice. Backbone and main songwriter Rami Keränen has composed some very catchy songs. Immediately the first song "Firestorm" shows that. It is an uptempo song with beautiful and catchy melodies. Next track "Angel of Light" is a softer and rather commercial track, it almost sounds like a metal based pop song.

In the celtic sounding song "Fly Away" I sometimes have the idea of listening to a power metal track written by Gary Moore in his "Over the Hills and Faraway" days. The ballad "Reason Revealed" has the typical metal ballad structure. Starting soft and getting heavier and more heroic towards the end. I like the more uptempo songs most and because of the catchy elements you get a happy feeling. One of the better powermetal albums I listened to lately.

If you like the more happy power metal like Freedom Call, Stratovarius and Helloween play, this 'Epsilon' is a welcome album in your collection. Not very original, but really enjoyable and nice music to cheer you up!
