The Swedes in the metal band Bloodbound are very true to their powerful metal sound. I've been watching these boys since their awesome debut album 'Nosferatu' (2006) with the strong front man and former vocalist Urban Breed's days. I saw them on a stage that year and the corpse paint is now gone which we all are happy with. Through the years, the search for a worthy replacement that has the right tone in the voice to take Urban's fallen mantle. This time they have found a Swedish vocal powerhouse with high pitch tone in his voice and I think he is the best vocalist (beside Breed) so far. Patrik Johansson (not of Astral Doors fame) is his name. The similarities with Dream Evil, Hammerfall, Sabaton and Manowar are still there and the momentum from Fredrik Bergh and Olsson brothers is palpable. It's full speed from start to finish. The tracks have names that make you smile a little awry with my mouth. But the songs are far better than I expected and together the sharp guitars and amazing vocals from Patrik, all of these things have a big impact on my total rating. The cliché-like songs feels a little silly at times, but is guaranteed to work just fine on their live shows this summer! I will see how good this will sound in June. Very probably, I will stand there and scream 'In the Name of Metal "or" Metal Heads Unite' like a madman. It's a good power metal album, but not a trendsetter. I really hope that they have found a band setting that will hold together. I
raise my fist and join in on the text 'I'm Evil'.
As always, I think they are one of the best
unknown bands we have in Sweden. It's
time for more metal heads to discover this Bollnäs band. |
