Let me start by setting the record straight: mastermind and main songwriter Noud Smeets is a very talented guitarist and composer. This little appetizer is firmly packed with great riffs and most of the leads are great as well. And this is not a showcase for his skills, no this is six complex and well crafted songs which sounds like a band effort. But as you might have guessed there's a but: the vocals are up to scratch and hold this EP a bit back. The vocals rage from normal metal vocals to more aggressive, almost growling outbursts and not all vocalists deliver at the level I had expected. The music is situated somewhere between heavy metal and thrash metal and is as such at an acceptable level. Not a half bad beginning and a sure sign of promise for the future, maybe you can look past the clear let-down (for me) on this EP and take more from it. Still not convinced then I suggest you take a listen to "Restless Souls", best and most complete song on the EP, had the rest just been like this...! | ||||||||||||||||||
