Well, I survived this day of fine metal. A lot of variety in music and a lot of beer were the main ingredients. The food was o.k. and the people at the festival were in a good mood. The weather could have been better, but the organization made a wise decision to use a big tent with podia on the both ends. The only thing I missed a little bit, was the festival atmosphere, the open air is gone, but better this then getting wet to the bone.
We arrived at the festival just after Dimaeon left the stage. Sorry guys, I have seen you before and I'm sure you did well. After that the Frisian and local folk/viking-metal heroes of Baldrs Draumar took the place. You can see they have a lot of friends here in the north, they played well and were a fine opening act for the Large Rockhand Stage. Other bands that gave me a positive feeling were Cirrha Niva, Chiraw, Pagan's Mind, Evile, Alestorm, Vicious Rumors and Hammerfall. Not that the other bands were bad, but they are not my favourite style. The delay of over half an hour before Hammerfall could start their gig was a little bit irritating, but as soon as they started, the audience had forgotten this. Below you find some photo's to give you an impression of the day, evening and night. |
