Italy is not a big AOR/Melodic
Rock nation for me, but they got this guy Stefano Lionetti, who is the brain
behind this entertaining project and he has gathered a great
bunch of musicans on the selftitled Lionville album. Lars Säfsund (Work Of Art,
Enbound) on vocals is excellent in this genre and with the other intresting guest musicans
on the CD, they contributes with something special on every song. Tommy Denander plays on The Chosen Ones and with his wonderfull
guitar he makes my rightfoot start to bounce and suddenly my airguitar gets a life. Sven Larsson,
Arabella Vitanc and Bruce Gaitsch highlights the tracks they're on a little
extra. Lionville's members besides Mr Lionetti and Mr Säfsund, is Alessandro
Del Vecchio on keyboards and backing vocals and Pierpaulo Monti behind the drums.
Over all this is a solid album
for the lovers of thight and well played AOR/Westcoast/Melodic Rock. The
inspirations from Toto, Giant, Richard Marx and Survivor puts Lionville in the softer rock folder, and the
songs are very well mixed and the productions has nothing to complain about. This
is a medium cooked album that leaves me with a lighter feeling, a belief of
a sunny summer and a happy life. This is mabye not an album for tjose that want something hard and violent.
Lionville makes nothing innovative, they just delivers a great retro 80s
melodic rock album for all you fans of AOR.
Favourite tracks: The Chosen
Ones, Here By My Side, Thunder In Your Heart, Dreamhunter.
