Back in 1984 Exxplorer released one of the all time classic US Metal albums called "Symphonies of Steel", an album packed with killer tunes such as "City Streets" or "Run for Tomorrow". Ten years after in 1994 "A Recipe for Power" was released, also a great album packed with killer tunes such as "Bible Black", "Rock the Nation" or "Ride the Storm". In 1996 they released "Coldblackugly", but the album was a total disaster and shortly after Exxplorer split-up. In 2009 Exxplorer played at the Headbangers Open Air (Fantastic gig) and the Keep It True festivals in Germany, and in early September they played at the Swordbrothers Festival also in Germany. And now we even get a new album called "Vengeance Rides an Angry Horse". I have been listening to "Vengeance Rides an Angry Horse" 11 or 12 times by now, and wow what an incredible release, it is the perfect come back album with all the cool trademarks from "Symphonies of Steel" and "A Recipe for Power". Exxplorer anno 2011 sounds tighter than ever, and vocalist Lennie Rizzo can compete with the best in this genre. Check out "Gypsy", "Glory Hunter", "Chasing the High" or "Spirits of the Wind" and you will be hooked. 15 years after the "Coldblackugly" album, the uncrowned kings of US Metal returns with a vengeance. | |||||||||||||||||||
