Ancient Wisdom was founded in Austin, Texas in late 2009. They have an evil satanic image and the lyrics will be liked by those who like the dark side. The only reason that they are reviewed by metal sites and metal magazines is because they have an evil image and they look like metal heads. The music certainly isn't heavy. If the band looked like choir boys and sang about the Lord, you would probably find reviews in some religious magazines.

The band chose for an acoustic approach and therefore I think that the album is too soft for the most metal freaks. If you undress the music by not adding electronic instruments, you take a big risk. Everything has to be good, because the music is rather naked then. The songs are not strong enough to keep me focused and sometimes they sound a little bit too simple. A few songs are rather o.k., but that is not enough for me. The vocal performance of Nathan Opposition is not good enough to compensate for the weaker tracks. I have nothing against smooth, soft acoustic songs (occasionally), but if a band thinks that is the best way to play the songs, the arrangements and the song writing has to be very good. I miss that on this album. Not an album for me, but if you are into something quite unique and want some dark acoustic music with a sometimes southern vibe, then you should give this one a listen.
