Zodiac Ass rises out of the roots of 80's thrash heroes like Annihilator, Sepultura, Testament and Megadeth and was founded in 2001. These Germans have the honour of being the opening act of Heathen's gig in Bayern. Definitely not a bad offer and not one you get when you totally suck. The thrash genre is not the easiest one to be part of. With Exodus, Testament, Heathen, Overkill etc. etc. it is very difficult to make a better album. I have to say that Zodiac Ass hasn't succeeded in doing so. Nevertheless they play a decent kind of music and they sound very fresh and excited. The songwriting is not as strong as their heroes and they are far from original. Musically they do a good job though, the riffs are good the drumming is tight, the songs are rather technical and you can hear the pleasure in their playing. Zodiac Ass is a band that will find its fans within the NWOT (New Wave of Thrash) scene where bands like Evile, Municipal Waste, Elimination and Gama Bomb wander around.
