Tattoos & Tequila, co-produced by Vince Neil, Jack Blades (Aerosmith, Ozzy
Osbourne, Alice Cooper) and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard,
Buckcherry). The album serves as the soundtrack to the book of the same name (to
be released in September) and is a compilation of genre defining hits that have
inspired Vince throughout the years. 10 Cover songs which consist of some of the
biggest names in the music world "Sex Pistols, Elvis, Elton John, Creedence
Clearwater, Aerosmith" plus two brand new tracks, "Tattoos & Tequila" & "Another
Bad Day".
The band behind Vice Neil is none other then the driving force from LA hard
rock band "Slaughter"... Dana Strum - Bass & Jeff Blando - Guitars & Zoltan
Chaney on Drums. This album rocks your ass off man, the best thing; I think
Vince Neil has done since "Dr. Feelgood"... He sounds amazing & Jeff Blando
absolutely shreds on "Tattoos & Tequila. Just take a listen to Viva Las Vegas, I
can bet when Elvis wrote this song he had no idea it would sound so damn smoking
hot.
The two new tracks "Tattoos & Tequila" is a classic "Neil" song with an awesome
chorus that just gets stuck in your head all day, has a Black Label Society
sound to it. Especially in the guitar department "Another Bad Day" is actually
written by Nikki Sixx and was left off New Tattoo. This is a ballad and is a
great song and the closest Vince Neil gets to Motley Crue (naturally) on this
album. Very similar to Home Sweet Home or Your All I Need.
Now on to the 10 cover songs Vince Neil does here on Tattoos & Tequila. Man on
man do they fucking rip...He has kept pretty close to the originals but has
sleazed them up a bit, with that typical Motley Crue sound, mainly because of
his vocal delivery. The only song that sounds a dead ringer to the original is
"Who Will Stop the Rain". But on every other tracks Jeff shreds his ass off and
Vince just sounds amazing. Tattoos & Tequila is just a fun album & I will be
spinning this for years to come...
To be honest I wasn't expecting too much from this when I heard about it, but
boy was I wrong!!!!!! Tattoos & Tequila is on par with Slash's excellent new
album. It's so good to see these old rockers bringing out quality stuff after
all these years.
