The Order of Apollyon is a band with (ex) members of Aborted, Cradle of Filth, Aosoth and Akercoke. With that fact in the back of your mind there are some high expectations. Can they live up to them? At some levels they can, but when you look at the complete picture, it could have been better. A positive thing about the songs is the rather high technical level, the originality and the diversity. The cold black metal with nice riffs has a kind of obscurity in them that gives the correct vibe to their style.

Things that can be improved on the next record are in my opinion the production, it could have sounded even heavier and the drum sound could improve. The song writing is rather o.k., but I think there are some songs that were written too fast, at least it sounds a bit like that. The first record of this band is one that will not be an icon in the black metal scene, but it is a nice step, and a promise for more and better things to come. If they can improve on the second record, this will not be the last we hear from The Order of Apollyon. If they can deliver on stage too, this could be an act that we will be seeing a lot on the heavier festivals.

A good purchase, but not yet a real must buy.
