Every time when I read the word modern in combination with a form of metal, I fear the worst. As I wrote in the Everything Burns review I have almost had enough of these so called modern metalbands. Nevertheless this Spanish band; Rise to Fall also deserves an honest chance. The songs and style is based on the well known and too often used Swedish melodic death metal sound.

Rise to Fall is as original as a Chinese in China. The combination of aggressive vocals with clean ones is an example of that. Musically they play things we all have heard so many times before. But I can confirm that they do it with a lot of dedication and for a band hailing from Spain the songs aren't bad at all, but where is the originality and the shame? Perhaps they are in their own country one of a few, but when you go global there is a fucking lot of competition. The lack of originality and the average songs will make it tough for them to obtain a foothold in other countries.

If you still can't get enough of the modern melodic (death) metalbands which combine clean and aggressive vocals, you can buy this album. If you want something new you better look further. You certainly have to rise before you fall, but I don't think this band will rise a lot. Again, it is not bad, but....
