As far as black metal goes, this is the kind that explores the darkness and beauty of life in the north. October Falls from Finland strike upon something in the
Nordic soul, and to someone like myself this is fascinating even if black metal
is not at all my favourite pass time.
The music is for the most part grim as is the vocal expression of M. Lehto, yet
there is something captivating about it, an air of the coming of winter, the dim
thought of wolves in the night and a moon that throws a silver light over the
woods.
The music as such...well, it's quite decently performed and it does surprise
with an unexpected harmony here and there as well as an acoustic guitar - it's
alright. The atmosphere created, though, that is where this one hits right home
and makes a difference!
